Flatten PDF Online and Make Fillable Form Fields Non-Editable
Need to flatten a PDF, flatten a fillable PDF, or make a completed PDF form non-interactive before sending it? OneStepKit converts supported AcroForm fields into static page content directly in your browser. This is useful for final applications, invoices, checklists, contracts, tax forms, and other completed PDF forms that should no longer expose editable form controls.
What does flattening a PDF do?
A standard interactive PDF form stores its fields separately from the page content. Flattening takes the field's current appearance and places it into the page content, then removes the associated interactive field structure. The result keeps the visible answers but no longer behaves like a fillable form.
Flatten PDF vs. protect a PDF
Flattening is specifically about removing supported form-field interactivity. It is not the same as full PDF security, password protection, DRM, or a digital-signature workflow. A flattened PDF can still be opened or edited by software that can modify normal page content, so use the appropriate protection method for your goal.
Why flatten a completed PDF form?
A flattened copy is useful when a completed form is ready for submission, printing, sharing, or archiving and you want the entered values to remain as static page content instead of live fields. Keep the original fillable file in case you need to change the answers later.
AcroForm and XFA support
This tool is designed around standard AcroForm fields. If a PDF uses XFA or another non-standard workflow, the form structure may not be supported here. The tool checks the document before flattening so you can see when no standard interactive fields are available.
